Insect Bites & Stings

Warmer months are here and so are the bugs and bug bites. While many bites are harmless to most people some people have bad or serious reactions. Here are a few remedies to consider to shorten your duration of suffering and speed up recovery from these bites.

Common Bites and Stings

  • Ledum – First remedy to consider for any type of puncture wound. The wound may feel cool to the touch. I find this remedy helpful for stings where the person doesn’t have a reaction to the sting but there is still pain.

  • Apis – Bee Stings especially if there is a reaction and swelling.

  • Cantharis – for wasp stings

Tick bites

Embedded Tick-

Ledum 200c every 3 hours on day 1

Ledum 200c 2x a day for a week (days 2-8)

Not Embedded-

Ledum 30c 2-3 doses

Also, consider other remedies specific to this bug bite observing keynotes and reactions.

Work with a homeopath for additional support.

Spider Bites:

  • Hypericum – 1st remedy for punctures from stings of insects and insect bites and lacerated wounds.

  • Ledum-Helpful if bite, sting or puncture becomes discolored. This would be the second option if Hypericum doesn’t seem to be helping.

  • Apis –Allergic type reaction to bites. Swelling. Use this remedy on the way to the hospital.

Jellyfish Stings:

Tingling & Swelling

Pour vinegar on the tentacles that are still attached to the skin. This helps prevent the discharge of more poison. Do not use alcohol!

  • Aconite-first for the shock and fright

  • Ledum- to help heal following the aconite once the person has calmed down.

When to Call a Homeopath?

If you’ve tried a few of these remedies and just can’t seem to find a match please reach out for an acute consultation before the acute turns chronic and into a larger issue.

If you’ve had symptoms for longer than 3 weeks please reach out to your doctor and consider working with a homeopath to handle this chronic condition.
