Poison Ivy, Oak & Sumac Rash

The toxin within these plants that cause the rash is called “urushiol”. This is the oily compound that most people have an allergic reaction to.

Symptoms of this reaction include:

  • Redness

  • Itching

  • Swelling

  • Blisters

The rash usually appears within 24-72 hours after contact.

Homeopathic Remedy Recommendations:

Rhus tox – Made from the poison ivy plant. This is the #1 remedy for Poison ivy. Better from hot water or warm application. Very restless. Rash with itching, redness and swelling.

Incase this is not your remedy I’ve listed additional remedies below.

Ledum – Rash with tingling, itching and swelling that can spread over the whole body. Better from cold applications. Itching of the skin, with burning after scratching.

Anacardium –rash with blisters filling with yellow fluid. Itching made better from hot water similar to Rhus tox.

Graphites – rash with honey colored fluid, which oozes out and dries to yellow crust. Worse at night and worse from heat.

When to Call a Homeopath?

If you’ve tried a few of these remedies and just can’t seem to find a match please reach out for an acute consultation before the acute turns chronic and into a larger issue.

If you’ve had symptoms for longer than 3 weeks please reach out to your doctor and consider working with a homeopath to handle this chronic condition.
